Protect the Quality of Veterans’ Healthcare

Email your elected officials and decision makers in Washington to stop the VA from making changes to veterans’ healthcare options.

Every Veteran Deserves Quality Healthcare

But a proposed change to the Department of Veterans Affairs Community Care Network threatens to limit their options and compromise the care they receive.

The Community Care Network

The Department of Veterans Affairs Community Care Network (CCN) helps veterans access local, timely care. The CCN states that its goal is to “improve transparency, accountability, quality, and communications between veterans, community providers, and VA staff.”

The CCN relies on contracts with third-party administrators (TPAs) to provide veterans with care. These contracts and associated TPAs each cover established geographic service regions, of which there are currently five.

The Problem:

The VA is considering reorganizing the CCN.

Washington bureaucrats have cooked up a plan to consolidate administrative functions and cut costs, which will make it harder for veterans to access the care they need.

These bureaucrats want to shrink the number of geographic regions from five to just two for the entire country.

The Consequences:

Reducing CCN regions from five to two would:

  • Worsen existing access and quality-of-care problems
  • Favor existing contractor third-party administrators like Optum and TriWest that have mismanaged veterans’ healthcare in the past
  • Stifle innovation
  • Reduce competition that drives new treatment options

This would mean fewer options and lower-quality services for our veterans — the very people who sacrificed so much for our country.

The Solution:

America owes its veterans more than just gratitude — we owe them timely, quality healthcare.

The VA must align the number of CCN service regions to meet the unique medical needs of veterans. Let’s send a loud message to Washington:

We won’t let them cut corners at the expense of veterans’ healthcare. The men and women who served our nation deserve better — they deserve fast, accessible, quality care now.
